Books

The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) has published two great books for trail managers and builders, respectively. While focused on mountain biking, the information and advice is applicable to multi-use trails (nearly all trails in Austin are multi-use). You receive a 10% discount if you are an IMBA member, but please become an Austin Parks Foundation member first!
  1. Managing Mountain Biking: IMBA's Guide to Providing Great Riding. Published in 2007, this is a new book which covers the organization and management side of mountain biking on trails, including planning & design, partnerships, environmental impacts, safety and risk management, signs, supplies and a number of success stories. $35, 10% less for IMBA members. 2. There is also: AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities, 3rd Edition
